Rovinjski Nocturno (Rovinj Nocturne) describes the night-time atmosphere and sounds of the small Istrian town of Rovinj (Croatia) - the sound of the waves on the seashore, a dark blue sky sprinkled with stars, with a faint sound of the wind in the distance. While the combined tones of the piano and double bass create impressionistic melodies, other sections include more modernistic music, also contrasting some jazz harmonies.

The double bass part offers challenges to the player to effectively create the sound of night music. The central part of the piece uses the technique of Free Atonality and the work ends with a dialogue between the two instruments subtly describing the image of the restless sea and the turbulence of a night wind.
